It has a cropped hem and puffy sleeves, so you can wear it with high-waisted pants or jeans and tuck the hem in, or even over dresses, thanks to the lovely sleeves. Following current fashion, the sleeves are intentionally extra-long and cuffs wide. You can wear them straight, fold them up, or simply make the sleeves shorter.

The cardigan is knitted from DK weight yarn with mohair to give it a fluffy texture, and it feels wonderfully substantial when worn. The button band is also super cool and firm because it’s double-knitted. Round-cornered pockets complete the cardigan and give it a unique look. By changing the buttons, you can create a completely different style for the cardis – classy and elegant, cozy and comfortable, or chic and luxurious.

The cardigan is knitted seamlessly top down. First, stitches are cast on for the neck, then the yoke is worked with raglan increases, and at underarm the work is divided into sleeves and body. The body is worked first, then the sleeves, and finally, stitches are picked up from the front edges and neckline to work the front band vertically from the right hem to the left hem.

This is an absolute favorite of mine because by tweaking the details, you can create a cardigan that suits your own taste – and it’s easy to make!

SIZE GUIDE

The cardigan is designed to be worn with approx. 10-25 cm / 4-9.75” of positive ease at bust - so the size doesn’t have to be too precise. First, measure your own bust (or your widest upper body part). Then, add 10-25 cm / 4-9.75” to your bust circumference. You can also measure your favourite cardigan - the size depends on whether you prefer an oversized or a more fitted style. Compare that number to the finished measurements (above) and choose the closest size.

Yarn: 350 (380) 400 (440) 460 (500) 550 (600) g of Sandnes Garn Double Sunday (100 % merino, 108 m / 118 yds / 50 g), colour kitt (1015).

And 80 (95) 100 (110) 115 (125) 140 (170) g of Isager Silk mohair (75 % mohair, 25 % silk – 212 m / 231 yds / 25 g), colour natural white (E0).

The cardigan is worked holding both strands together.

Needles: 3.5 mm (US4) and 4.5 mm (US7) circular needles and DPNs for sleeves if you don’t magic loop.

Notions: 8 stitch markers, tapestry needle, 4 buttons (circumference 2-2.5 cm / 0.75-1”).

Gauge: 17 sts x 24 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette st with 4.5 mm (US7) needle.
