Treat Your Feet to the Comfort of Non-Superwash Finnish Wool

We Finns are avid sock knitters, and woollen socks are the essential accessory in every household. Socks are worn everywhere, from tiny baby socks in even tinier baby feet, to teens and grown-ups wearing wool socks both at home, in school and at the office.

We love our thicker wool socks, usually knitted with woolen spun sport to worsted weight sock yarns, that Finnish sock knitters call the “Real Deal”. Tukuwool Sock is designed to honor the Finnish sock knitting tradition. We made it a sport weight, 3-ply wool without superwash treatment - significantly different from superwash merino sock yarns, often fingering weight, that are generously available in the yarn market.

Spun from 100% Finnish wool and now enriched with biodegradable polyamide, our beloved non-superwash Sock yarn now comes in a generous 100g skein – perfect for knitting a delightful pair of woolen socks. The three-ply yarn is twisted tightly but gently to create a light and lively yarn for an enjoyable knitting experience.

Why Non-Superwash Rules in the Sock Game

Wool yarn with no superwash treatment maintains that natural softness of lambswool, providing a gentle caress for your skin. Tukuwool Sock knits up to cozy, breathable socks that pamper your feet. Non-superwash wool is the king of durability. It lasts longer, looks better, and holds its shape better than superwash alternatives.

Sourced from the sheep farms of Finland, the wool is mainly Finnsheep with some Finnsheep-Texel breed wool especially suitable for warm and breathable socks. Say goodbye to scratchiness and welcome the softness and warmth that only pure, untreated Finnish wool can provide.

A More Sustainable Sock Yarn Choice with Biodegradable Polyamide

In our commitment to a greener future, the renewed Tukuwool Sock introduces a revolutionary new blend of Finnish wool enriched with biodegradable polyamide for durability. This innovation ensures the yarn is durable as ever but in a more eco-friendly manner.

The new type of polyamide used breaks down naturally in harmless substances over time. Unlike traditional polyamide, which can persist in the environment for a long time, biodegradable polyamide decomposes more readily, reducing its impact on ecosystems.

Blended with non-superwash wool makes the whole yarn biodegradable. When it's time to retire your worn out socks, rest easy knowing that they will leave minimal impact on the Earth.
