Nothing beats self-knit wool socks! High-quality sock yarn is durable and pleasant to use

The sock yarns is mostly a wool blend - wool from sheep, alpaca or even yak is reinforced with polyamide, i.e. nylon. Artificial fiber increases the durability of wool and thus guarantees a longer service life. Superwash-treated sock yarns are also machine washable. Hand-dyed sock yarns retain their color best by hand washing. With the right needle size and regular care, woolen socks will delight their wearers for a long time.

The thin fingering weight sock yarns knitted with 2.00-2.50 mm needles can also fit in shoes or are suitable for use without undersocks. Filcolana Arwetta knits soft socks for the whole family from merino sock yarn. The gradient colored Crazy Zauberball sock yarn is fun to knit on its own and wonderful in embroidery with solid color sock yarn.

For knitting with 3.00-3.50 mm needles, Finnish Tukuwool Sock, striped Austermann Step 6 and cradient sock yarn Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Stärke 6. Sport-strong sock yarns are suitable for many uses.

Basic sock yarn for knitting with 3.50-4.00 mm needles Sandnes Garn Perfect, Regia Uni 6-ply  and Perfect Premium are monochromatic yarns that you can use to make embroidered socks, striped socks or cable socks for the whole family. Thicker sock yarns are the choice of many for boot socks or home socks.

Wool socks can be knitted from sheep's wool, alpaca, merino wool or cotton

- Alpaca wool is suitable for almost everyone. Pamper your feet with luxurious alpaca sock yarn. Its softness and warmth make it the perfect choice for cooler days and sensitive skin for both adults and children.

- Merino wool sock yarn guarantees both warmth and softness. All merino yarns in our selection are spun from guaranteed mulesing-free wool, and are ethically produced wool.

- Breathable cotton is perfect for summer socks. Vegan sock yarn, which contains only plant and artificial fibers, is also suitable as a sock yarn for people with wool allergies.

- Superwash-treated sock yarns are machine washable. The lifespan of socks is extended by gentle washing as needed. You can also wash the socks with a hand wash program.

You can knit sleeping socks from other woolen yarns as well, because they are not exposed to similar wear and tear like basic woolen socks or boot socks. Socks knitted with love can be mended when they get holes or wear. You can patch the holes with mending thread, but you can also strengthen the parts that wear easily in advance, such as the heel and sock tip.
