Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool yarns are multicolor yarns spun with dyed wool - they're like candy to knitters! Rachel and Kate behind Spincycle Yarns began as handspinners and dyers and then branched out into a mill nearby in Bellingham, Washington State. Since 2017 they have millspun this beautiful knitting yarn with the coloring and texture of a handspun yarn.
Because wool fiber is dyed before it is spun and plied, the color changes in are unique and and the colors in each ply meet and part ways randomly resulting stunning and artistic effect. The color transitions in ‘Dyed in the Wool’ are slow and dramatic, and each skein is unique.
Sport weight gradient colorful Dyed in the Wool calls for knitting projects that showcase the colors. Knitted sweaters and cardigans, shawls or accessories. Soft and airy spun American wool feels comfortable to skin. DYED IN THE WOOL • sport weight • 100% superwashed American wool • 200 yards per skein • hand wash cold, lay flat to dry • MADE IN THE USA FROM SHEEP TO SKEIN
You will receive a skein from your chosen colorway, but not the exact skein pictured. Due to Spincycle Yarns' “dyed in the wool” process, each skein they produce is unique, even within a dyelot. We recommend buying your entire yardage requirement for your project in the same transaction, so that we can hand select skeins that match.
For high contrast colorwork, we recommend steam blocking to avoid color transfer. Some dyes are notoriously difficult to set, and may exhaust some color even after our final wash. Please keep this in mind if you are combining any hand dyed yarn with a light color in the same project. f you plan to combine a hand dyed yarn, especially a very saturated colorway, with a lighter yarn, we suggest you test your darker skeins for possible color transfer by soaking them first. To wash your knitwear, a quick cold water dip with a no-rinse wool wash is recommended.
