Here's a story that maybe many can relate to:


"Work over! A little overdone, but not too bad. Laptop closed, I'm not going to touch it for the next few weeks. I shout out to the family: "It's almost time to leave, has everything been packed during the day as agreed??" "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" Surprisingly, it seems that way — until I remember that I forgot to print the sock pattern to take with and I have to open the damn laptop again. 


The family is already waiting in the yard when I come. I put the bags in the car until I realised that I forgot to take the knitting bag and the youngest's swimming floats. And I have to turn back to get them. Youngest tries to wriggle out of his seat, but I can coax him to stay still with the power of a Moomin cookie and I quickly put the child lock on. 


As usual, the teenagers have been sitting in the car waiting for a long time, and luckily they can't hear through the headphones when I curse the untidy home life left behind. I'm trying to give myself some grace, to set my sights on a relaxed cottage vacation with the family, as relaxed as it can be with this gang. I'll also make sure that the knitting bag has yarn and needles and not diapers and half-eaten bread — duh. Check. All right. 


A deep sigh and a moment's pause... I close my eyes and already see myself knitting at the end of the pier. My pulse drops and I start the car towards the cabin."
