I have a confession to make, I’m not a fan of summer knits. I haven’t quite figured out why. Maybe it has to do with Finnish summers. I remember last summer I spent mostly in Icelandic wool sweaters. Sure, I did have some shorts and rubber boots on also. Can you imagine how stylish I was? 

On my first day of work I kind of bumped into this new to me yarn, Sandnes Duo. Have you noticed that some yarns talk to you while others stay quiet? Or is it just me? :D This yarn really spoke to me, it said, almost screamed “Buy me!” I took it into my hands and it felt lovely. Sandnes Duo is a blend of merino and cotton, it is soft and I have to say such a dream to knit with, I’m surprised I never tried it before. But like I said, I’ve been avoiding summer knits.

I had sort of a vision of what I should make of it. I wanted a rather simple top. I knew I did not want to design it myself this time. I found a suitable pattern from Raverly called Emma Top from a designer I didn’t know beforehand. It is half brioche, knitted flat with an adjustable length. Nope, I do not mind knitting flat. I know many people do. 

The top is almost done and as usual it will rain this week. Lovely! I can layer it! I really wish that I could always have this Buddhist attitude in what comes to weather. It goes something like “It’s the weather.” meaning there is nothing you and I can do about it, no matter how much we complain.
