Intarsia is a knitting technique where colour blocks are knitted without the typical strands of yarn running behind the work, as seen in stranded knitting. This class will explore various methods of knitting intarsia in the round seamlessly. This allows for the seamless creation of garments like sweaters and hats with contrasting colour blocks.

Supplies:

Several different coloured yarns that contrast well with each other and needles. Since we are knitting in the round, you will need either long circular needles for the magic loop technique or double-pointed needles if you prefer those. If you like, you can make several different swatches during the class, but I thought it would be fun to experiment with different techniques for a sock, as it's a conveniently small item to knit in the round.

If you want to knit just separate sample swatches, the yarns can be of any thickness. Just make sure they are preferably the same thickness throughout. If you want to try techniques on a sock, you'll need fingering weight yarn (400 m/100 g) and 2.25 mm needles (depending on your gauge). If you want to knit toe-up, cast on 64 stitches in your main colour and knit 16 rows of (k2, p2) ribbing followed by one row of knit stitches. Continue increasing until you have a total of 64 stitches. For this class, there's no need to start two socks on the circular needle simultaneously; you only need the beginning of one sock.


Class registration is final and paid upon registering. Choose "Pick up from Titityy shop" as shipment method. Please do not order anything else with a class ticket.
