Yarn Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, main color Snowbound ~ 45 g and contrast color Sap ~ 20 g
Needles (3,5) 4 mm for ribbing and (4) 4,5 mm for hand
Gauge (24) 21 sts x (27) 23 rows / 10 x 10 cm in fairisle

The Finnish word "kuusi" means spruce in English - so the inspiration for the design is quite clear. Did you know that over 70 % of our land is covered in forests? We know that we are the lucky ones but can’t really count on that anymore. We need to do our thing to save our planet. I will donate 50 % of the sales of this pattern forever for WWF Finland. Their Forest Vision is important for all of us:

“Forests are important to Finns in many ways and they are our main natural resource. Forests provide habitats for tens of thousands of species. Forestry, intensive land use, and ditching of peatlands have had a major effect on Finnish nature. Our mission is, that by the year 2025, the biodiversity of Finnish forests is secured by protecting forests sufficiently and practicing ecologically sustainable forestry. By these means, the forests also benefit people the most."

Kuusi mittens have been worked on fairisle by using Brooklyn Tweed’s Shelter. You can easily adjust the size by changing needle size or yarn. The pattern has two sizes. After knitting these go to the forest! I would love to see many pair of mittens hugging the trees…
