Apple Cheeks Hat Pattern PDF

A striped hat for your loved ones! The garter stitch earflaps are shaped with short rows so knitting the hat is quick and convenient, and there aren’t many yarn ends to weave in. Make one or a dozen!

Sizes:
Newborn (baby, toddler, child) to fit a 12-15 (15-17, 17-20, 20-22)” / 30-38 (38-44, 44-50, 50-56) cm head
Samples shown in size toddler on a 1-year-old baby with a 17.5” / 44.5 cm head

Finished hat circumference: Approx. 13.5 (15.5, 18, 20.5)” / 34 (40, 46, 52) cm, suggested ease +-2.5” / +-5 cm

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (or Aran weight yarn that comfortably knits to the given gauge)
Main color (MC) approx. 45 (65, 90, 110) yards / 40 (60, 80, 100) m
Contrast color (CC) approx. 30 (40, 50, 60) yards / 25 (35, 45, 55) m
Yardage needed depends on whether you make the brim and ties with MC or CC (difference is only some yards/meters)

Needles and Notions:
US 6 / 4mm circular needle 32” / 80 cm or longer for magic looping OR 16” / 40 cm circular needle and double pointed needles, OR needle size that gives you the gauge
2 double pointed needles of the same size for the i-cord
5 stitch markers

Gauge:
20 sts and 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch in the round after blocking
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge!
