I can see myself clearly in my new favorite garment, the Amy Slipover, walking on the streets in the brisk autumn weather, or sipping hot chocolate while typing away on my computer at the (home) office, or of course knitting another Amy Slipover.

I think the Amy Slipover is a clever garment, it is not really a slipover nor a cowl. It’s something in between, making it an imaginative accessory. With the Amy Slipover, you don’t necessarily need a scarf. Maybe knit a matching hat and you are all set for autumn & winter.

The Amy Slipover is knitted from the soft merino wool Sunday and the fuzzy silk mohair Tynn Silk Mohair. You’ll need 4 skein/balls of each. The English pattern is in the 2022 Mykt Till Dame booklet.

There is only one size in the pattern, but I find that this garment does fit many shapes and sizes. We made a few kits, where you’ll find the pattern and the required amount of yarns.  You can choose from almond, brown, dusty rouge, the original black, Jelly Bean Green or light yellow kits.

We thought that the Amy Slipover is a great garment for office, home or basically any place where you'll need a bit of warmth and a garment with a so called twist. We are all knitting one. Piia chose the soothing Almond combination, they are the 2511 Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair in the same colorway. Siina is knitting the original, always stylish black combination in Sunday 6581 & Tynn Silk Mohair 1099. Emmy cast on the Dusty Rouge 3553 colorways from both yarns, a lovely dusty rose color.

I loved the dark brown 3072, but unfortunately that colorway is discontinued. No worries, you can knit an even nicer one from these chocolate truffle Sunday 2564 and the golden brown Tynn silk mohair 2755 colorways. Chocolate truffle, yummy!

The pattern is rather simple, but it still offers something new, like a cast on with a crochet hook. That is not difficult! By following the pattern you’ll get a neat finish for the straps.

A more laborious part is the Italian cast off. Now you can laugh at me. I’ve been avoiding the 2 by 2 Italian cast off for years, only to finally realise that there is no such thing! You have to move your stitches, so that they light up 1 k, 1 p, otherwise you can’t do the bind off. Live and learn! If you need a tutorial, check this out!

I’d love to knit another Amy Slipover, but next time maybe in a bright color, like the Jelly Bean Green or That Orange Feeling colorways. I quite enjoyed knitting this garment, I also finished it rather quickly. For once, I followed the pattern to the T and did not do any modifications. I really recommend you knit your own Amy Slipover!
