Lento sweater yarn suggestions

Julkaistu: 18.05.2022

Lento sweater by Jonna Hietala from Issue 11 Marjoram, Laine Magazine has turned into a favorite of many knitter and we are no exception. Tiina has already made two. Piia knit her first one last summer and just got yarn for another. Milja just made her swatch for the sweater and is now rapidly knitting it. Besides our staff, we know that many of you fell in love with this it’s lightweight and simple design.

Tiina knit her first Lento last summer from Tukuwool Fingering and Röyhetyinen, which is a hand dyed silk mohair from Finnish dyer Louhittaren Luola. It’s been in constant use and even slept in! After all, why would you want to take off your favorite sweater?!

For the second so-called Summer Lento Tiina chose Sandnes Garn Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair in the new colorway Lime 9825, both in the same shades. Tiina made size 4 and used 3 skeins of Sunday and 4 skeins of Tynn Silk Mohair. She didn’t alter the pattern in any way. Just like the first Lento, this is also light as a feather!

Piia made her first Lento from Walk Collection’s Pure Sock and Ito’s Sensai. Her second Lento will be from Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair in the colorway light Sienna 4025.

Milja is knitting hers from Tukuwool Fingering in the colorway Rae and Röyhetyinen in the colorway Malva. This gives a marbled effect to the finished sweater.

Here are a few other excellent yarn choices! Any Fingering weight yarn combined with silk-mohair works beautifully for this sweater. You can also knit the entire sweater from Wool, like Gilliatt. Of course the end result might look a bit different, but it still works beautifully!
