I’ve designed a few accessories before, usually the inspiration comes from an actual need or sometimes just by looking at yarn skeins. With the Silk Mohair Beanie I was inspired by the Tuku Warmer cowl.  I wanted to design a matching beanie that is warm yet lightweight. The combination of silk and mohair is warm, but not too hot. Hence you can use this hat almost till the beginning of summer. Try knitting the hat with 1 k, 1 p ribbing too and use five different color strands of mohair for a more colorful effect.

I started knitting more actively when my second child was born, seven years ago. I was at home and I was looking for something of my own to do. I love knitting sweaters and trying different techniques and yarn combinations. I mostly knit for myself and my kids, sometimes for my close friends. My favourite yarns are from Knitting for Olive. I love the quality and the tranquil color schemes. I find joy in trying different yarn brands and I was lucky to test knit the Tuku Warmer cowl from a new to me yarn, Tukuwool DK. I never imagined that a rustic Finnsheep yarn would feel so lovely when worn. Tukuwool DK combined with silk-mohair is a fascinating combination, I’d love to knit a sweater from that combo.
