PetiteKnit classic summer top, Cumulus Tee, is a wardrobe staple. Knit one in Linen yarn this summer!
Classic linen T-shirt is a basic capsule wardrobe item for every wardrobe. A natural fibre garment has a long life cycle, and you are going to enjoy wearing this classic piece of knitwear many summers to come. PetiteKnit design Cumulus Tee has raglan sleeves and i-cord finish and lots of sizes to choose depending on the fit you want.
You need a certain knit mood and persistence when picking up a ball of linen yarn. Light weight linen yarn feels hard in the hands and is inelastic opposite to springy wool yarns. Despite not always being a pleasure to work with, a linen knit is definitely worth the effort. Choose your favorite needles, preferably lightweight wooden ones and give linen a chance. It's worth it. Antibacterial linen (flax) is naturally moisture wicking, and linen knitwear feels cool and dry in hot weather.
Milja's Cumulus Tee in size XS, 4 balls of Isager Organic Hör, Linen.
Milja fell for Petiteknit Cumulus Tee, the timeless raglan-sleeve top with deep v-neck and icord edges. The tee is worked top down in one piece with lots of stockinette - what is not to like! Add another Petiteknit pattern in your knitting queue - Cumulus Top, a similar knit but without sleeves.
The knitting pattern for Cumulus Tee calls for a (light) fingering weight silk yarn. Substituting silk with linen works well. There are many options to choose from, as most linen and flax yarns and blends are between lace to fingering weight.
PetiteKnit sample is designed to have approx. 3-9 cm of positive ease and gauge of 28sts per 10cm. Milja's Isager Organic Hör sample knit's gauge was 25 sts in the end, but the more relaxed boxy fit looks great! The top down pattern gives you the opportunity to modify lengths of the body and sleeves, and Milja went for basic T-shirt length sleeves for her beige knit instead of the near-elbow length in the pattern. Blue sample has a bit longer sleeves.

Before the finishing wash the linen fabric feels a bit stiff and uneven, but as usually with any fiber, the fabric relaxes after washing and feels comfortable against your skin.
